Despite what the ads might have you believe, Presidents Day isn’t about buying a new mattress or saving thousands on a brand new car.

Presidents Day honors those who have led the United States since our country was founded in 1776. It’s celebrated on the third Monday in February, as George Washington’s birthday was Feb. 22, 1732.
