Weight limit restrictions in place on some St. Joseph County roads due to weather

As the weather freezes and thaws, then freezes again, St. Joseph County officials want heavy vehicles to stay off of certain roads.

St. Joseph County officials are posting 8 ton weight limit signs along roads where the season weight limit restriction is being enforced, according to a news release from St. Joseph County government offices.

The weight limit is placed in an effort to keep weaker roads from sustaining further damage. Garbage trucks, school buses, ambulances and other necessary vehicles are not banned.

A map showing all of the roads where the weight limit restrictions are in place is available online.
