Free South Shore train rides to Chicago offered next week

Anyone interested in heading to Chicago next week can hop on the train at no cost.

The South Shore train will offer free westbound rides all day Sunday, March 13, and on trains arriving in Chicago at 9:30 a.m. Central time or later March 14 through March 18, according to the Northwest Indiana Times.

Returning eastbound trains will be the current rate, which is about $13 for the trip from Chicago to South Bend.

The South Shore train line arrives and departs from the station at the South Bend International Airport.
