Memorial Hospital not accepting some adult patients

Adults seeking hospital care at Memorial Hospital in South Bend are being diverted to nearby hospitals.

  • UPDATE: Memorial Hospital is no longer at full capacity and is accepting adult non-trauma patients again as of April 22, 2016.

Memorial Hospital is at full capacity for non-trauma adult patients, our news partners at ABC 57 reported. The hospital will continue to accept trauma patients because Memorial is the region’s only level 2 trauma care center.

This is the first time Memorial has been at capacity in at least 20 years. The hospital will begin accepting patients again once it is no longer at capacity.

The newborn intensive care unit and pediatric care unit are not at capacity and will still accept child patients and their parents.
