CNBC: Indiana tops list of “Top States for Business”

Indiana has another chance to flex its business muscles.

CNBC America’s list of the Top States for Business puts Indiana on the top. Indiana was ranked first in the comparative cost of doing business. Each of its neighbors fell in the top half of the country as well. Kentucky was 5th, Michigan 12th, Ohio 15th, and Illinois near the middle at 24th.

Also, numbers from the Tax Foundation’s 2016 State Business Tax Climate Index have been released. Once again, Indiana outpaces its numbers there, as the Hoosier State ranks 8th on the Best State Tax Climate Index. That’s compared to Michigan at 13th, Illinois at 23rd, and Kentucky at 28th. Ohio was among the ten worst in the country, at 42nd.

The rankings were trumpeted by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation as an example of Indiana as “a state that works.”
