Man shot in leg during argument in Elkhart

A 37-year-old man was shot in the leg during an argument in Elkhart. It happened around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the 400 block of West Marion Street.

The victim was arguing with an acquaintance and another person when the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

One of the bullets struck the victim in the leg, Snyder stated.

The acquaintance and suspect took off in a vehicle driven by a third person.

The victim was taken to Elkhart General Hospital where he was treated for the non-life-threatening injury.

Officers found the vehicle that the suspect was in when he took off from the
scene, Snyder stated.

So far, there has been no word of any arrests.

The case remains under investigation.
