A LaPorte County man is accused of trying to abduct a child.

Not only that, but LaPorte County officers say the man tried to stuff a 1-year-old boy in a duffel bag. It allegedly happened shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday on the 7400 block of State Road 4 in the Fish Lake area.

The suspect allegedly approached the homeowner, saying his vehicle broke down. When the homeowner went to get some water, officers say the suspect was trying to put the boy in a duffel bag. The homeowner attacked the suspect, took the boy inside, and came back out to see the suspect speeding off.

The suspect is described as a white male with a beard stubble, wearing a white tee shirt and gray camo pants. The vehicle is described as a 1990’s style silver or gray minivan.

If you know who tried to abduct this child, contact the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office at 219-326-7700.
