It’s three years behind bars for a St. Joseph County man who pleaded guilty to four counts of possession of child pornography.

Roddell Durbin Jr, 24, received a total of 10 years, but 7 of the years are suspended.

Durbin will also serve two years on probation and must register as a sex offender.

Durbin was charged in September 2017 in connection with a St. Joseph County Cyber Crimes Unit investigation stemming from a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a DropBox account that contained numerous child pornography files.

Durbin admitted he owned the DropBox account and that he put child pornography into the account to trade with others, during an interview with investigators.

Deputy Prosecuting Attoney Eric Tamashasky said, “We are very pleased with this outcome. It supports the outstanding work of the St. Joseph Cyber Crimes Unit. This three year executed prison sentence sends a message that possession of child pornography is an offense that is taken seriously by the criminal justice system.”
