The superintendent of the Benton Harbor Area Schools has resigned.
At a meeting Thursday night, the school board accepted the resignation of Dr. Shelly Walker, effective April 10.
Walker, hired in 2016, was deemed ineffective during an evaluation last month. Prior to that, she had been on paid non-disciplinary leave while a complaint against her was investigated.
ABC 57 reports she was reprimanded in December for revealing privileged information to the entire district’s staff.
It’s uncertain what this means to the partnership forged with the state in 2017 for the schools, which included the stipulation that the board sign a multi-year contract with Dr. Walker in the interest of stability in their leadership.
