An Elkhart native and her four children are in custody in Syria because she claims she was forced to join ISIS by her husband.

Sam Sally was on vacation in Turkey when she says her husband duped her into joining ISIS four years ago.

Their vacation took them near the border and her husband Moussa took their daughter with him across the border into ISIS territory. She says she decided to keep the family together and followed him.

She also says her husband made her 10-year-old son appear in an ISIS propaganda videos.

CNN reports she was in Raqqa for a while and is now in Syrian Kurdish custody. Her husband Moussa died fighting for ISIS and she’s trying to prove her innocence to US authorities in an attempt to come home.
