Indiana Department of Child Services is over budget

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Department of Child Services has gone over budget by $284 million with two months left in this fiscal year.

The Journal Gazette reports that the state Budget Committee heard about the issue Tuesday.

State Budget Director Jason Dudich says the Family and Social Services Administration and Medicaid reserves have been providing most of the excess funds.

The DCS doesn’t have enough family case managers to oversee the high numbers of abused and neglected children. It’s also in the midst of an outside review after the abrupt departure of its former director, who criticized Gov. Eric Holcomb for service cuts and management changes that she said would harm children.

DCS Director Terry Stigdon says the agency will have a better idea of what resources it needs after the report is completed in June.

Throw more money on the socialism fire! That will fix everything! I wish I could simply go over my budget by 284 million dollars. Unbelievable that someone is not going to prison for theft! How about more accountability for idiot parents that don’t parent. Take care of your kids or go to prison. It would be a start. How about women that have multiple children from multiple baby daddies with no means of support go to prison and have their tubes tied permanently! That would be a start. How about baby daddies with no means to support all of their illegitimate children go to prison and be castrated! That would be a start. I know…too inhumane. Well I guess we could just have a lot more government paid for abortions to eliminate the problem as that is very humane. America is so screwed!
