One man is in custody after a stabbing at a liquor store in South Bend on Sunday.

South Bend Police were called to the Blarney Stone liquor store on Portage Avenue at Bendix Drive on Sunday.

Officers say they found a man with a long, deep cut to his left arm. He was taken to a local hospital for two cuts that reportedly almost went to the bone.

Officers later caught up to James Boyle, who reportedly claimed he was defending himself from the victim, claiming he was being threatened. Surveillance video reportedly shows Boyle was the aggressor.

Police say they found a knife with red stains on the blade in Boyle’s possession.

He’s being held in St. Joseph County Jail on no bond.
