Bremen residents wonder why tornado sirens didn’t go off during tornado warning

People in Bremen are wondering why the storm sirens never went off during last week’s EF-0 tornado.

That storm touched down just southwest of town last Friday, with crop and tree damage among the signs that a tornado was in Bremen’s part of Marshall County.

ABC 57 spoke with a number of residents who want to know whay the sirens remained silent during the storm. It turns out the county does not have a centralized system for its tornado sirens, and each community is responsible for their own sirens per their own protocols.

The sirens were tested as recently as this month, according to people living in Bremen.
