Two men from New York were arrested earlier this week after a trial in LaGrange County.

Indiana State Police Trooper Zarek Finley said when Rayan Alrayashi, 18, and Anad Al-Yafay, 19, walked into court, where one of them was appearing as a defendent, there was “a strong odor of raw marijuana.”

After the trial ended, Trooper Finley saw the pair climb into a car and drive away, despite neither of them possessing a valid driver’s license.

He pulled them over a short time later and discovered suspected marijuana, what’s believed to have been a controlled substance called “khat,” and drug paraphernalia.

Both men were taken into custody on drug charges.
