Michigan begins expanded roadside oral drug testing program

Michigan has started the next phase of their expanded roadside drug testing program.

Police in the state say in recent years they have seen a steady increase in fatal crashes involving drivers who are impaired by drugs.

October 1 was the first day of their expanded Oral Fluid Roadside Analysis Pilot Program, which includes drug recognition experts in every Michigan county.

The initial program, which ended last November, ran in five counties including Berrien.
