Governor Holcomb said Wednesday that he and GOP legislative leaders would ask the state Board of Education to delay an updated count of student enrollment until at least December.
That would delay any changes in state money going to school districts.
There had been some confusion after a letter was sent to school leaders last week by Republican Senate President Pro Tem Roderic Bray warning that schools could face a 15% funding cut if they didn’t hold in-person classes.
The governor promised in June that schools would not face funding cuts during the coming school year, despite virus-related revenue losses and cuts to other state agencies.
