Hospital officials in Michigan are urging people to mask up, and possibly reconsider the big family get-together this Thanksgiving.
Hospitals are pleading with people to wear masks in order to stop the spread of COVID, with more than 3,000 Michiganders hospitalized with the virus this week. This has pushed some hospitals toward capacity, and many are expecting to reach the same overwhelming pressure at the end of this month that they encountered last spring.
Hospital officials say one way to try and get a handle on the skyrocketing number of cases is to cancel routine Thanksgiving plans, so as not to spread the virus among family members who don’t live in your home. Governor Whitmer echoed that call during an address Thursday afternoon.
