Governor Holcomb has announced his choice for Indiana’s first Secretary of Education.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick is stepping down in January when her term ends. She’ll be replaced by Holcomb’s senior education adviser, Katie Jenner, who will oversee the state’s Department of Education with a new title.
Jenner’s appointment comes after a change in the law to make the state’s education chief an appointed position rather than an elected one. Jenner will start in her new position on January 11.
