100-year sentence for an Elkhart man convicted of child molesting

It’s a 100-year-sentence for an Elkhart man convicted of two counts of child molesting.

30-year-old Christan Benitez was accused in the rape of a girl under the age of 8.

The victim told investigators Benitez threatened to, “whoop her” if she told anyone.

A warrant for his arrest was issued in 2018, but his trail was postponed several times. That was until this past summer when he went in front of a jury.

The Elkhart Truth reports Benitez at his sentencing hearing said he intends to appeal.
