Congressman Fred Upton announced Tuesday that he will retire from The U.S. House of Representatives at the end of his current term.
In an emotional speech on the House floor, the St. Joseph Republican said he’s done the “zillions of airline miles back and forth,” signed his name to over a million letters, and cast more votes than anyone in the chamber while he was there.
Upton has served his district since 1987, working with 7 administrations.
He recently drew the ire of former President Trump when he broke ranks and voted to impeach him after the January 6th insurrection, and has had a history of bipartisan work in Congress.
Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad was among the first on social media to thank Upton for his many years of service representing Southwest Michigan in Congress.
Thank you for your service to the City of Benton Harbor. @RepFredUptonhttps://t.co/6rwm3l2OX6

Good riddance to bad RINO rubbish.
Good riddance to a filthy RINO! You people in that district had better wake up and find someone who can abide by their oath of office. If you can;t do that you deserve what you get.
The problem is that WE don’t deserve what they get. If the leftists didn’t torpedo the rest of us with their idiocy, I would not care what rules they lived by.
finally! Maybe now they can get a Republican up there
Bye Felicia…… You POS!!!! Good bye & good riddance….
