Some items had bigger price jumps than others last month at the grocery store.

The April Consumer Price Index Report said overall, the cost of trips to the market were up 10.8% last month over April of last year.

Last month, however, did see a small break from the record month to month increase in March. The increase was driven largely by a rise in prices for meat, poultry, fish, and eggs. Each saw their largest year to year increase since 1979. The only major food category to see a decrease in prices last month was fresh fruit, which dropped half a percentage point compared to March.
