We’d like to announce the winner of our annual patriotic photo contest.
Our winner is David Kreigel of Mishawaka. David’s photo is that of Mishawaka veterans providing veterans funeral honors.
David says the VFW Post 360 and American Legion Post 161 provide 150 full military honors for local veterans rain, snow or shine. many have done more than 3,000 funeral honors during the past decades.
David wins family four packs of tickets to the South Bend Cubs, Deep River Water Park, Indiana Beach and a taco bar from Monterrey Mexican Bar and Grill in Mishawaka.
David says he’s going to donate his prizes to the veterans who provide the funeral honors.

Just a note for veterans and their families. The full military honors ceremony includes chaplain, rifle salute, taps and flag presentation. Make sure you have a copy of your DD-214 ( honorable discharge) paperwork. These ceremonies can be arranged through your funeral director OR what we have been doing. remembrance of Life celebrations at VFW Post 360 arranged by the families vs a funeral home. Very moving ceremony You can not buy it – you earned it Note the respective branches of the military’s can provide two active duty service member’s to present a flag but they no longer perform the full ceremony for veteran’s and their families If anyone would like to volunteer to join our team drop your name and number off at VFW Post 350.
