A proposal to expand the operation of e-bikes on non-motorized trails at state managed parks could soon go into effect.

Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes are not currently annoyed on natural surface trails under Michigan law. However, with the new Michigan DNR Land Use Proposal, Class 1 e-bikes would be allowed.

According to WSJM, the proposal could go into effect as early as spring, though the proposal will only go into effect if the director of DNR’s Park and Rec Department signs off.

A public survey about the proposed land use change is open through the end of the month. Here is a link to the survey: https://www.research.net/r/DNR-E-BIKE?utm_campaign=ebike+survey&utm_medium=pr&utm_source=govdelivery
