Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke won’t run for re-election

After serving nearly four decades, Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke has announced he will not seek a third term as Cass County Sheriff.

According to a statement, he says the decision was not easy, but after talking with his family, he says it’s time to start another chapter in his life.

Behnke’s career started in 1987 as a Cass County Deputy Sheriff.

Right now, he says he has no plans regarding which path he will embark upon, but he plans to continue living in Cass County and serving the community in some fashion.
