The YMCA of Greater Michiana may soon begin the process of building a new South Bend facility.
That’s pending approval from the South Bend Redevelopment Commission at their April 25 meeting. The YMCA says after approval they will lease the third and fourth floors of 111 W. Jefferson Blvd., currently occupied by Beacon Health and Fitness.
The agreement states the YMCA will lease the Jefferson Boulevard location rent-free through December 31, 2032 in exchange for transferring ownership of its Northside Blvd. property to the city at no cost.
Downtown South Bend YMCA operations are expected to commence this summer, and Beacon Health and Fitness members can still use the facility through May 31.
