The Elkhart Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a shooting.

Officers were called around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17,  to the 1800 block of Visscher Drive.

During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at the 23-year-old victim.

The suspect then transported the victim to Elkhart General Hospital before officers arrived at the scene.

Other officers were sent to the hospital and detained the suspect.

The victim was evaluated and treated for serious but non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

The suspect was booked into the Elkhart County Jail.
