The South Bend Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident that damaged a hotel in Eddy Street Commons.
Police were called just after 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, Sep. 21, to the 1100 block of East Angela Boulevard. Officers found no injuries but did discover a window in the entryway of Embassy Suites damaged by gunfire.
The incident followed a heightened police presence in Eddy Street Commons and surrounding areas before, during, and after the Notre Dame football game. The deployment came in response to disturbances and gunfire reported last weekend.
Police say the increased patrols resulted in 13 arrests on charges ranging from criminal trespass to unlawful possession of a firearm. Officers also recovered three handguns — one of them reported stolen — and a rifle. One of those arrested was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The arrests stem from eight separate cases and have been forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for charging decisions.
