The Berrien County Health Department is reminding the community about its breast cancer risk assessment and screening services.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, nearly 317,000 women and 2,800 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year.

BCHD Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Parrette says early detection is key, urging people to know their risk and get screened.

Appointments are available at BCHD’s Benton Harbor and Niles offices and can be scheduled online or by calling the office.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, participants will receive a pink ribbon pin.
