St. Joseph County man pleads guilty to battery

A man in St. Joseph County has pleaded guilty to Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
Tawain Wilkins was arrested in August 2024 after a shooting that injured two people. He was originally charged with two felony battery counts and criminal recklessness.
Police say officers heard gunfire near Johnson and Rupel Streets and then learned two victims had arrived at Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Investigators later identified Wilkins as the suspect.
