Teen injured in late-night shooting on Portage Lane in Elkhart

Elkhart police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that left a 17-year-old girl injured on the city’s north side.
Officers were called to the 900 block of Portage Lane around 11:40 p.m. on November 19 after several 911 callers reported gunfire in the area. Responding officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics treated her at the scene before taking her to a hospital, where police say her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
No arrests have been made, and investigators are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
