Curious Kids’ Museum has launched a $9.2 million campaign to build a new, expanded museum in downtown St. Joseph. The project will renovate the former Heritage Museum at 601 Main Street into a modern, fully accessible space for hands-on learning.
The move follows a 2022 fire at the Lake Boulevard building and growing demand for programs. The museum has already raised $4.3 million, and a matching grant from the Frederick S. Upton Foundation will double the next $500,000 in donations.
Renovations are expected to start in early 2026. The Lake Boulevard site will continue to host field trips, and the Discovery Zone at Silver Beach will stay open.
The new location will offer more space, better accessibility, and expanded exhibits for families, tourists, and school groups.
