Indiana’s drug overdose rate above national average

(95.3 MNC)
A new study finds Indiana’s drug overdose rate is above the national average, especially as the dangerous holiday season approaches.
Indiana saw 32.41 drug overdose deaths per 100,000 residents, which is higher than the U.S. average of 31.51. The state recorded 1,699 deaths linked to opioids alone over a 12-month period.
Experts are stressing the urgent need for more funding and awareness to combat the persistent opioid crisis in the state, particularly during December and January when overdose deaths typically spike.
