Two men were killed after being struck by a vehicle in St. Joseph County in Michigan.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, on Eagley Road in White Pigeon Township, according to police.

Investigators say a 57-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer south on Eagley Road when a northbound vehicle crossed the center line to avoid two pickup trucks parked along the side of the road.

Police believe the Trailblazer driver steered toward the west side of the roadway in an attempt to avoid the oncoming vehicle or allow it to pass. During that maneuver, the SUV struck two pedestrians – a 30-year-old man and a 36-year-old man.

Both men died from their injuries at the scene.

Authorities have not released the victims’ names. The crash remains under investigation.
