Peace has returned to homes in Coloma Township.

A ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals shut down the police shooting range after multiple complaints by nearby neighbors, according to WSBT.

County police have used the facility for weapons training for years, leading neighbors to complain about the noise as well as question whether the facility is even zoned properly and complies with noise ordinances.

A shelter that cost 52-hundred dollars to build did little to help with the noise.

Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey said that there will be no further shooting at the facility following the ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals.

The facility was actually shut down by the Michigan Supreme Court in 2008, but it reopened five years later.
