Mishawaka could buy former Papa Joe’s property

A decision should be coming soon about what to do with the damaged Papa Joe’s restaurant property in Mishawaka.

Papa Joe’s Casa de Pasta was seriously damaged in a fire in August. Now, the Mishawaka Redevelopment Commission will likely vote Monday night to buy the property, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The agreement would have the city spend $175,000 for the restaurant, the family home next door, and the gravel parking lot across the street. It would allow for the eventual widening of Union Street.

The owner and city could close on the property in December.
