Saturday was a big day for 150 families in-need in St. Joseph County, thanks to a bit of Christmas cheer from the community.

Through the generosity of people who gave to the “Adopt-A-Family” program with the Salvation Army of St. Joe County and the South Bend Kroc Center, families down on their luck got some help for the holidays, according to WNDU.

The program allows families to “adopt” a family in need and help them buy gifts and other necessities. Nearly 150 families were assisted by this year’s effort.

If you would like to volunteer in the future, you can learn more at the Kroc Center.
