Elkhart Police made a pair of drug arrests following a pair of traffic stops Monday morning.

The first arrest came at about 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Rice and James Streets, according to the Elkhart Truth.

39-year-old Jamie Brown had outstanding arrest warrants, but when police searched her car, they allegedly found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and a hyperdermic needle. Brown was also found with more needles.

Seven hours later, at about 9 a.m., 42-year-old Starley Baez was arrested after police got reports of a driver driving erratically. She was found at a 7-Eleven on Prairie St. south of East Jackson Blvd.

Officers quickly determined Baez appeared to be under the influence and couldn’t even field sobriety tests because of “the condition the driver was in,” according to a police report.

Baez was taken to Elkhart General Hospital, where she was determined to be under the influence of an undisclosed narcotic. That same narcotic was reportedly found by police in her possession and without a subscription.
