Woman shot in chest in South Bend early Sunday morning

A woman was taken to the hospital after being shot in the chest.

It happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, in the 200 block of North Wellington Street in South Bend.

The shooting happened inside a home though officers with the South Bend Police Department set up a perimeter around the area after receiving word the the possible shooting suspect was seen running from the area, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers did not locate the suspect in the initial hours after the shooting, ABC 57 reported.

There was no immediate word about the severity of the victim’s injuries, or what led to the shooting.
