Elkhart Police are continuing to investigate reports that a woman was targeted not once, but twice by arsonists.

A 45-year-old woman living on Oakland Estates Drive on the city’s south side called Elkhart Police shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday, saying someone tried to set fire to the siding of her house. Sergeant Chris Snyder told the Elkhart Truth that officers did find some minor burn damage, but it didn’t spread.

36 hours later, the woman called police again Sunday evening, saying someone was trying to burn down her home again. Officers say someone tried to spray an unknown substance on the outside of her home and apparently left a light behind.

Damage from both incidents is estimated to be upwards of $5,000.
