An Elkhart teen is accused of throwing a mailbox at a police car, then jumping on its hood.

It happened as an officer was patrolling the 200 block of North West Boulevard at about 1 a.m. Saturday night.

The 17-year-old caused damage to a headlight with the mailbox before jumping on the hood. The teen then became aggressive, according to officers, and had to be tased.

It was later determined the teen was drunk and he was booked into the Elkhart County jail on initial charges of criminal mischief, illegal consumption, and public intoxication.
