Enforcement patrols target reckless drivers on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County

U.S. 20 in LaPorte County has been a dangerous place for drivers in recent months, and officers are trying to do something about it.

Special “line details” were performed by both Indiana State Police troopers and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office. Officers targeted U.S. 20 near the community of Rolling Prairie, where many fatal crashes have taken place in recent months.

On June 9, 14 tickets and 29 warnings were given out to drivers. The next day, on June 10, 5 tickets and 26 warnings were given out.

LaPorte County Sheriff John Boyd says county officers are working to make U.S. 20 safer to travel. He hopes the enforcement detail serves as “notice to the reckless and inattentive drivers” on that stretch.
