Firefighters had their hands full, fighting a large fire at Scrap Metal Services located in the 54000 block of Smilax Road in New Carlisle.

Crews were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

The fire started in a scrap yard and spread to a nearby building, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.

So far, there is no word on how the fire started.
