Friendly Confines bar in South Bend fighting to stay open

A popular Cubs bar in South Bend is fighting to stay open on the West Side.

The South Bend Tribune reports that the Board of Zoning Appeals has recommended rezoning of the neighborhood in order to help The Friendly Confines stay in business.

The owners have had problems with city ordinances, many of them involving noise from the patio that drew complaints from neighbors. The owner has agreed to certain terms including live music wrapping up at 11 p.m.

The Common Council will make the final decision, likely at the end of the month.
