Congressman Jim Banks says Indiana should serve as an example of how to fix things in Washington.

During a speech on the House Floor, Banks said the state would serve as an excellent example of how the country’s finances would be best handled.

In his remarks, the Republican said that while the House is in the midst of an important debate on the federal budget, it’s clear that dramatic changes are needed on spending. He pointed out that Indiana has developed a rainy day fund of almost $1.8 billion dollars, wheras the country has a national debt of $20 trillion.

He said the country needs more “Hoosier Common Sense” to get it’s fiscal house in order.
