One person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting in Elkhart.

Officers were called to the area of State Street and Madison Street just after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 on the report of a shooting with injuries.

Investigators found the victims in the 300 block of State Street.

One person, who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment.

As of 12 p.m. on Sunday, police had not released any information about the circumstances that led to the shooting or any possible suspects or arrests.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Lenell Williams.
