Goshen police responded to a hit and run accident Tuesday afternoon.

A 78-year-old man rode into the intersection of Bashor and Elkhart Roads with the green light right-of-way when witnesses say he was hit by a silver Ford Focus that was turning onto Elkhart Road. The Focus allegedly failed to come to a complete stop before turning.

The 70 year-old driver of that car, identified as Grizsy Birkhead, did not stop and left the scene. He was followed by witnesses who reported his location to the police.

Birkhead denied hitting anyone but did admit to just having been in the area of the collision. He was cited for leaving the scene and taken to jail.

The victim sustained minor injuries.
