Southwestern Michigan College professor arrested for criminal sexual conduct

A professor from Southwestern Michigan College has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and practicing psychology without a license.

George Field, 57, of Dowagiac was arrested after leaders at the college encouraged the victim to contact law enforcement.

The sex-involved incidents happened between September 2015 and June 2016 at The Family Center or Field’s home, next door, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Field has a degree in psychology and was a professor at Southwestern Michigan College when the alleged incidents occurred.

One of the charges deals with Field allegedly presenting himself as practicing psychology or counseling without a license.

Field was also an employee of Edwardsburg Schools, but has since, been terminated, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

During his arraignment on Wednesday, Sept. 27, bond was set at $200,000.
