Investigations underway into two weekend shootings in South Bend and Elkhart

No word of any suspects or arrests after a man was shot in Elkhart.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of West Franklin Street around 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, according to an Elkhart Police Department news release.

When they arrived they found the victim, who said he was shot outside of a home.

The man was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

His injury is said to be non-life-threatening.

Police were at the scene, Sunday night, collecting evidence, including casings, and interviewing witnesses.


A man is recovering after being shot in south Bend. Officers were sent to Muessel Grove Park after ShotSpotter detected gunfire on Friday, Sept. 30.

However, they found the victim, nearby, at his home, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, according to WNDU.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

So far, there is no word of the circumstances that led to the shooting.
