ABC 57 Meteorologist Tom Coomes, whose weather reports you can hear on 95.3 MNC, has earned one of the highest honors that anyone can earn in the world of broadcasting.

Coomes was given the Edward R. Murrow award for Excellence in Video Award Monday morning.

Coomes did a video feature called “Skyline Skepticism”, which explained a rare weather phenomenon where a mirage of the Chicago Skyline can appear on Lake Michigan from the Warren Dunes. You can view the report here.

In the process of proving a photo of a mirage of the Chicago Skyline was in fact a mirage, he also debunked the trendy “Flat Earth Theory” that seems to have made a comeback recently.
