BMX park among new additions discussed for Mary Gibbard Park in Mishawaka

A $1 million overhaul could bring a new outdoor bike park to Mary Gibbard Park in Mishawaka.

The park would feature BMX jumps not found anywhere else in northwest Indiana.

The South Bend Tribune reports that the idea, along with others such as a new playground, a splash pad, and even a low zipline were suggested by elementary students. Many of those students were on-hand as the plans for the park were laid out.

They cheered especially loudly as it was announced that WiFi will stream through the park, after park officials discussed how it would help kids do their homework.

A new pavillion and new bathroom facilities are also in the plans.
